Raghvendra Anavekar wins gold at First National Para-Triathlon, Kolkata

In the National Para-Triathlon 2013 held at Kolkata Sports Club, Salt Lake, Kolkata, West Bengal on 1st September 2013, Belgaum swimmer Raghvendra Anvekar won a Gold medal clocking 1hr :55min:30sec.

Jotiba Kundekar stood 4th in the event.

Both Raghvendra and Jotiba represented Karnataka Paralympic Swimming Association.

The Para-Triathlon event consists a 750m swim, 20km compulsory cycling (using hand cycles, bicycles, tricycles or tandem bicycles with a guide) and a 5km wheelchair or running race. Athletes compete in the same six classes as in ITU events. More than 100 swimmers from 13 States particiapted.

Both the swimmers are members of Swimmers’ Club Belgaum and Aquarius Swim Club Belgaum and practicing at Rotary Corporation Sports Academy Belgaum under the watchful guidance of Umesh Kalghatgi, Prasad Tendolkar, Sudhir Kusane, Anand Patil, Ajinkya Mendke.

He is encouraged by Lata Kittur, Maneck Kapadia, S. R. Sindia, Avinash Potdar, Basavraj Vibhuti, Ajit Siddhanavar, Sunil Aptekar, Shakutai Paranjpe, Suryakant Hindalgekar, Madhukar Bagewadi, Yatish Babu of Shachi Technology.
