An effort at change through education

Citizens for Society, an organization dedicated to bringing about change through education is on a mission to improve education in vernacular medium schools in Belgaum. The NGO has finished preliminary discussions with the Vishwa Bharat Sewa Samiti to commence training programs for students of 8th and 9th standard at Malatibai Salunkhe Girls Schools, Lele Ground, Tilakwadi and Pandit Nehru School, Alwan Galli Shahpur.

In this context, an attempt was made to rope in the parents to be a part of the training and development process. In meetings conducted at the schools, the parents, the management, faculty and members of Citizens of Society, participated in a discussion to help plan the modalities of the said developmental program.

Students at the said schools will commence their training programs from 15th Sept 2013 and the training programs would be continued through the Diwali vacations and through the year ahead.

Students would be provided training in communication skills, English speaking and practical aspects of education in addition to providing them real time exposure to different functional entities like the Municipal corporation, banks, industry, etc.

The objective of the said training program is the accomplishment of the all-round development of the students and to pave the way for efficient and effective higher education. The NGO will also facilitate career planning; provide counselling and financial assistance for students in the context of higher education.
