Royceton Gomes Memorial Football Tournament update

The Royceton Gomes Memorial Football Tournament continued for the second day of the Qualifying Round 2014 on the grounds of St. Paul’s High School.

The first match at 2:30 PM was played between Bensons High School and SKE Society Marathi School (SKE) who are playing in the Tournament for the first time. The Royceton Gomes Memorial Sports Committee warmly welcomes SKE Society Marathi School who played exceptionally well in the Pre-Qualifiers to enter the Qualifying Round 2014. Harshad Dhamanekar opened the score for SKE in the 5th minute of the match. Both teams fought hard and displayed excellent footballs skills. Bensons tried hard to equalize and in the very last few minutes of the game, in the 45th minute, Prajwal Gouda Patil of Bensons School managed to score the equalizing goal of the match. The match ended in a draw 1 – 1.   football-belgaum

With a few on and off rain showers, the second match of the day at 3:30 PM was played between Oriental High School and Bharatesh School. Krutesh Bhosale of Bharatesh School opened the score of the match in the 14th minute. Bharatesh played aggressively with a number of direct shots at the goal but goal-keeper Wahidulhaq Shah of Oriental School did a fantastic job defending them. Oriental School fought hard to score and in the 40th minute of the match Raghuveersharan Suryavanshi of Oriental School scored the equalizing goal of the match. The second match also ended in a draw 1 – 1.

The last match of the day at 4:30 PM was played between Dnyan Mandir School and Karnataka Daivajnya. It turned out to be an aggressive match with both teams on the attack to score. But it was Sushilkumar Pal who managed to score a goal for Dnyan Mandir in the 11th minute of the match. Dnyan Mandir continued to keep the pressure on Karnataka Daivajnya in the second half. Dnyan Mandir missed converting a number of direct shots at the goal which were well defended by the goal-keeper of Karnataka Daivajnya. Dnyan Mandir won the match and turned out to be the sole winning team of the day. The closing score was 1 – 0.

Tomorrow, the Qualifying Round 2014 of the Royceton Gomes Memorial Football Tournament will continue on the grounds of St. Paul’s High School where St. Mary’s High School will take on Sant Meera English Medium School at 2:30 PM. Phoenix Public School will play SKE Society Marathi School at 3:30 PM. And, the last match will be played by Dnyan Prabodhan School and Oriental High School at 4:30 PM.
