In a stunning display of prowess and determination, Mr. Shridhar Malagi, hailing from Belagavi’s Majgaon, has emerged as a shining star at the World Ability Sports Games 2023 held in Thailand from December 4 to December 8.

Shridhar has amassed an impressive collection of accolades, with 19 international and 41 national medals to his name, including an extraordinary 36 gold, 11 silver, and 4 bronze. He has excelled in butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle swimming disciplines.

Swimming Guru Umesh Kalghatgi recognized the potential in Shridhar and extended an invitation to swim. With a resounding “yes” from Shridhar, a new chapter began. Supported by his parents, who initially worried about affording the training, Shridhar’s journey into the world of competitive swimming commenced in 2012 under the tutelage of Umesh Kalghatgi.

Currently training at the ZEE SWIM ACADEMY in Bengaluru and the Suvarna JNMC Swimming Pool (Olympic Size) in Belagavi, Shridhar dedicates three hours each morning and evening under the guidance of his coaches Umesh Kalghatagi Sir and Sharath M Gayakwad,(Olympian and Arjuna awardee). The Go Sports Foundation has also recognized Shridhar’s exceptional talent, providing crucial support.
