Security arrangements have been significantly strengthened across Belagavi ahead of the visit of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat and the organisation’s high-level meetings scheduled in the city.

Dr Bhagwat is expected to arrive in Belagavi on July 6 and will lead the Akhil Bharatiya Prant Pracharak Baithak, to be held from July 10 to 12. The three-day organisational meeting will bring together senior RSS functionaries from across the country to review the organisation’s activities and chart its future roadmap.

In view of the visit, the Belagavi District Magistrate has issued an order under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, declaring a 2-km radius around three meeting venues as a “Red Zone” (No-Fly Zone) from July 6 to July 14.

The restriction covers the following venues:

  • Belagavi Foundry Cluster
  • Sant Meera School, Sahyadri Colony, Bhagyanagar Extension
  • Shri Jagannath Rao Joshi Samadarshana Bhavan, Goodshed Road, Shastri Nagar

Under the order, the operation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS), drones and paragliders has been prohibited within the notified areas. The administration said the restrictions have been imposed to ensure security and public safety during the RSS programmes attended by Dr Bhagwat.

Police deployment has also been increased across the city, with security agencies maintaining heightened vigil around the venues and key routes.

During the meeting, RSS leaders are expected to review the current strength of the organisation’s shakha network, assess the outcomes of recent training camps and finalise an expansion strategy as part of the RSS centenary outreach campaign. The organisation is expected to focus on expanding urban shakhas, particularly among IT professionals, business communities and other working professionals.

The agenda also includes discussions on organisational matters, preparations for the 2026 training camps, Dr Bhagwat’s Pravasa Yojana, and national issues, including the forthcoming census.

Besides Dr Mohan Bhagwat, those expected to attend include RSS Sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabale, Sah Sarkaryavahs Dr Krishnagopal, C. R. Mukunda, Arun Kumar, Ramdutt, Alok Kumar and Atul Limaye, along with Akhil Bharatiya Karya Vibhag Pramukhs and members of the organisation’s executive council.
