Bittoo: The Income Tax department has set July 31 as last day to file annual returns for the salaried class.
Bapu: Yeah, else you will have to pay penalty.
Bittoo: Similarly, other government departments set “last date” for payment of property taxes, electricity band water bills, telephone bills, etc. and levy penalties in different ways for non-members compliance?
Bapu: That’s right Bittoo, else many might not take it seriously.
Bittoo: But, do these departments have last dates to implement various works, repayment of additional taxes collected from tax payers or providing various services to the citizens/taxpayers? Are they liable to pay penalty for non-compliance public works and services or failing to complete works within the set deadlines?
