The Belagavi district one of the biggest districts in the state with an estimated population of 50 lakhs has only a capacity to test 3100 COVID swabs per day.
The total capacity for Belagavi District is 3100 out of which 2700 are tested by the Govt labs and 400 by Private Labs.
2000 samples can be tested by BIMS where as ICMR-NITM can test 700.
As per the note issued by the health department the district has a test target of 5875 tests.
Out of which minimum 1763 must be RAT and 4113 RTPCR tests.
The Positivity Rate (last 10 days) – 13.72 %. Which shows a gradual decline.
The average tests done in the last seven days is 6100.

In any field most neglected is our dist. Why where is the problem ? What our ministers are doing ? Every thing must be as per population. Why isn’t ?
Either we’re being treated like the red-headed / step child or the funds being allocated for Belgaum is being distributed as pocket money. Having been here 6 years now my guess is it’s the latter.
I could be wrong though.
