Belgaum Ganesh Visarjan 2014
Ganesh visarjan (idol immersion) was an enthusiastic affair on Monday, with people of all communities joining in the celebrations. After the ceremonial pujas the grand immersion procession was flagged off at Hutatma Chowk in the afternoon.
With idols from more than 350 public pandals in the city to be immersed, the idol immersion is expected to go on till Tuesday morning.
Drummers, and ‘tasha’ and ‘lazim’ artistes, dancing to the ear-splitting beats. The police had made tight security arrangements and deployed a company each of Border Security Force and Rapid Action Force, in addition to District Armed Reserve Police and Karnataka State Reserve Police platoons.
The immersion procession ended at 2.30 pm on Tuesday afternoon.
