The City of Belagavi is not only known for its climate and varied culture but also known for contemporary artists. The artist of Belagavi has made a distinct name for themselves in the cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkatta, Bangalore, Chennai for their unique creations.
Many of them are in the prestigious private collection houses in Delhi and Mumbai and drawn the attention of ‘Art Critics’ for their merit.
The established artists of Belagavi City have formed ‘GULMOHAR’ Belgaum Artist Group, (BAG) in the early 2018, under the guidance of noted literary figure and artist Shri Chandrakant Kusnoor.
The BAG is founded by 25 member artists and the seed money (initial funding) is contributed by the artist out of the earnings. 2) To motivate the Govt and Private agencies to build art infrastructure in the region.
3) To create awareness about the contemporary art in the city-An Indian prospective.
The BAG has already set the tradition of conducting monthly meetings in the studios/galleries/residents of its members and discuss various aspects of art and artists.
