N.G. Krishna Murti designed/constructed aerodrome at Sambra Belagavi

Shri N.G. Krishna Murti had designed and constructed aerodrome at Sambra Belagavi during the World War 2. The Sambra airbase was built for the Royal Air force in 1942.

Nori Murti was a 1972 Padma bhushan Awardee and he worked in various capacities as Chairman, Bhakra Nangal Management Board, Managing Director of Water and Power Consultancy Organisation, Chairman, Bombay Metropolitan Region Development Authority.

He was instrumental in setting up Koyna Hydoelectric Project in Maharashtra and served as chairman of Bhakra Nangal Project. He received Padmasri in 1963 and Padmabhushan in 1972 from Government of India. He was born in Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh on February 16, 1910.
