firstonaabAfter the successful re launch of Kingfisher flights from Belgaum, Spicejet a low cost airline is planning to start operations from Belgaum.

According to SpiceJet CCO Samyukth Sridharan, the next wave in India’s aviation will come from small towns where the population is affluent enough to fly, but does not have the option. SpiceJet plans to fly to almost 60 new cities including those such as Shimla, Kulu, Vijayawada and Belgaum. While some of these routes do have flights, fares are relatively high.Spicejet logo

All these destinations would be added in 2011.

    • Kapil,
Are you happy to pay a premium to Uday and the ADS will go automatically. Please remember Uday brings these news/articles free of cost to you to your desktops and will need a source of revenue atleast to manage the basic web hosting costs .
So well yeah if you want to have free stuff you may have to bear with the Ads, atleast it is not as worse as Indiatimes.com

  1. Hope this is a real deal and not just the PLAN as said, for companies these days give false assurances to rise up their stock values!!!!

  2. This looks like a tough competition between KF & SJ to reach tier23 cities, Hope that this comes out practically and not just a FUTURE plan (the future never comes though). And yes the cost factor will play an imp. role here ("While some of these routes do have flights, fares are relatively high.")

And thats what I call Belgaum Shining!!! I 'm loving it!!!

  5. Hi Uday,

First of all, I would like to thank you for your excellent Job you have done so far..
I have few suggestions here…. Please try to publish day to day update on VKS as it is approaching near. Also only one news per day is not sufficient and want some more… like focussing on Train facilities from Belgaum to Bangalore that recently some proposal has been sent to Central for new 11 trains

    • I think since Uday has limited resources, you cannot expect a regular 'news' kind of thing from him.Of course, you can provide news/articles to Uday and he would be glad to publish it for you(Am guessing here).

  6. Spice jet is buying 25 Bombardier Q400 regional turbo porp palnes of which 8 will be delivered by 2013, Spice jet is going to use these planes for regional network , the capaciy is of 78 seats plus 2+1 crew , the plane is of similar looks of ATR's but less noise and virations.
Kingfisher is using ATR 72-400 planes te current Belgaum pax-load is 89% average bookings. well I would look forward the Spice jet to have full sector service such as Mumabi- Belgaum – Bangalore and return.

  7. hey fellas,
its true that many companies are planning to start operating from smaller towns with smaller aircrafts, like the Q400 or ATR's. these aircrafts are affordable on small routes and also have low operating costs, and also these planes do not require a long runway like the 737's or the 320's. also there are plans of some big companies to start a MRO(maintenance, repair, over haul) centre in Belgaum. so its for sure that the people of belgaum will find a few airplanes coming in.. cheers..
