Coinciding with the commencement of the Assembly session on December 10, one lakh farmers from across the state, under the aegis of BJP’s Raitha Morcha, would picket the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in Belagavi. B S Yeddyurappa is likely to lead the protest.
The protest is against the government’s failure to ensure sugarcane farmers’ dues are paid and it’s the failure in drought relief measures.
The Chief Minister also ridiculed Yeddyurappa’s support to the agitation, stating that he “has woken up to farmer issues” only now.
Vehicular movement on the NH 4 near Suvarna Vidhana Soudha could be affected on Dec 10 due to the protest. A separate space has been allocated for the protesters neat the SVS.
