In the backdrop of, DC N Jayram holding the meeting with police department and RTO officials recently for the enforcement of auto meters in city, Traffic police under the direction of police Commissioner have started the drive to catch hold of autos which are not charging as per prescribed meter fare at remote locations like Ramdev hotel, Channamma circle from Saturday morning.
DC had given one month deadline to RTO and police department to implement this order and if they failed he willl be writing letter to government to take disciplinary actions for not following order. Thus the officers seems taken it very seriously this time.
However the auto drivers too have become smart or should we say smarter. They have permits and auto meters just to show to the traffic police to escape from the seen but not to charge rent as per meter reading.
Like every time, the Autowalla’s are expected to meet DC again now to increase the meter charges citing reason that the fuel charges are hiked.
