Mega Project of Swimmers Club Belgaum and Aquarius Swim Club Belgaum 18th Free Swimming Coaching Camp for Differently Abled and Underprivileged is inaugurated on Thursday the 7th February at the auspicious hands of Shri R. D. Shanbhag, renowned Architect and Chairman of South Konkan Society, Rtn. Dr. Mukund Udchankar, President Rotary Club of Belgaum and Smt. Shakutai Paranjpe, founder president of The Association of Physically Handicapped Belgaum by lighting the lamp. The said coaching camp is conducted at Rotary Corporation Sports Academy’s Swimming Pool, Goaves, Belagavi till 23rd February 2018 between 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. except for Sunday. The said camp is conducted in association with Rotary Club of Belgaum and KLE Society, Belagavi.
Over 213 Children comprising of Physically challenged, visually challenged, Mentally challenged, Deaf and Dumb and underprivileged children participated. All children are providing with Free Transportation, Free Swimming Kit, and Staple Diet apart from Swimming Training.
The talented participants are chosen for competitive training throughout the year and they have been given systematic and scientific training to prepare for the competition. It is a matter of great pride for the organizers seven swimmers who were the product of this coaching camp have represented India at various International Competitions and won totally 48 International Medals. Hundreds of swimmers participated at the National level competitions and have won more than 500 medals to name a few Mr. Raghvendra Anavekar, Mr. Rajesh Shinde, Master Moin Junnedi, Umesh Khade, Shridhar Malagi, Simran Gaundalkar, Aatish Jadhav etc.
While addressing the gathering Shri Shanbhag was appreciated the work being done by the organizer from the past 18 years to bring transformation in the differently abled and underprivileged children to help them to come in the mainstream of the society. He assured all the help and support on behalf of Dasappa Shanbhag Trust and South Konkan Education Society for this noble cause.
This coaching camp is supported by Jaybharat Foundation, Rotary Club of Belgaum, KLE University, Polyhydron Foundation, Hathway Cables, Dasappa Shanbhag Trust and others. The students team from CBALC is helping the organizers to make this coaching camp successful. To witness and encourage these challenging children for their participation in this coaching camp many dignitaries are visiting every day.
