2 from Belagavi district stranded in Ukraine

Due to Russia suddenly invading Ukraine, the Indian government has launched a 24-hour helpline to assist Indian students who are still stuck.

Around 100 students have been stranded in Ukraine and 2 are from Belagavi District.

Amogha Chougla, a resident of Gokak Taluka and Priya Nidgundi of Rayabag Taluka are stranded in Ukraine as of now.

Both had booked tickets to fly back to India, Civilians flights are banned in Ukarine as it wants to keep its airspace free from any aircraft so that it could detect any attempts of an air attack by an unfriendly country.

The Indian Embassy in Kyiv also issued an advisory to Indian nationals stuck in Ukraine. It said that since the Ukrainian airspace was closed, the schedule of special flights has been canceled.

It also said that alternate arrangements are being made and that information will be conveyed soon so that Indians could relocate to the western part of the country.
