On Wednesday 26 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Belagavi District which is the second-highest single-day spike in the recent months after 27 on March 14.
Active cases now stand at 121 in the district.
Out of the 26 new cases 11 are from Belagavi Taluka, 12 from Raibag, 1 from Athani, 1 from Gokak and Others.
Results of 1524 samples is pending.
Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa has spoken to PM Narendra Modi today and the status quo in Karnataka will remain unchanged for now. No lockdown or curfew has been announced.
Appealing to the public, the CM said that there is no need for anybody to panic as the state government is taking all measures to contain the spread of the virus.
In order to prevent and mitigate the second wave of Covid-19, the daily target of tests in the state has been increased to 1 lakh.
