3 crores for development of Belagavi Fort

The State budget for 2016-17 was presented in the State Legislative Assembly on Friday by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Belagavi specific mentions are as below:

Preservation and development of Belagavi Fort at a cost of Rs. 3 crore.

370 acres of land has been handed over to Belagavi Airport. The extension of runway and airport will be completed in 2016-17.

The Dhabol-Bengaluru gas pipeline has been commissioned and natural gas is being supplied to the industrial and commercial establishments in Bengaluru. The work on supply of piped natural gas to houses in Bengaluru has started. It is also being implemented in Belagavi, Tumakuru and Dharwad.

It is proposed to declare heavy industrial areas and estates in Peenya and Bommasandra of Bengaluru, Mysuru, Belagavi and Hubballi as industrial townships

Preliminary preparation will be made for the setup of new IT Parks-incubator in Belagavi, Bidar and Vijayapura by KEONICS.
It is proposed to increase the admission limit for the MBBS course from 100 to 150 seats.
For providing safe residential facility for women constables, hostels with strength of 100 each will be
constructed in KSRP Belgaum and Bengaluru.

General –

Registration Fees:
Agreement of Sale of movable property from 2% hiked to 3%.

Hikes in rate of tax on petrol and diesel, additional excise duty across 17 slabs on IML and Motor Vehicles Tax have been proposed in the Budget.
Proposed hike in tax rate on petrol from 26 per cent to 30 per cent and diesel from 16.65 per cent to 19 per cent. This would increase the price of petrol by Rs 1.89 per litre and diesel by 98 paise per litre.
Electric vehicles are eco-friendly, they have been fully exempt from payment of taxes.
Vat on Helmets, LED Bulbs reduced

  1. I don’t understand how will they develop Belgaum Fort?? Its already under military, and state govt. not efficient enough to take it over and develop it and maintain it as military people are doing… again waste of of money…

    I was hoping for a much needed automobile SEZ for Belgaum, which unfortunately is not even on papers… 🙁
