The TOI, mentions Rs 198 lakh of the taxpayers’ money was spent when President Pranab Mukherjee was in Belgaum to inaugurate the Suvarna Vidhana Soudha in October.
Just before the visit the Circuit house was renovated and an amount of over Rs 161 lakh was spent on renovation and around Rs 37 lakh on furnishing the room, where Mukherjee spent just an hour on October 11.
This was disclosed after RTI activist Bhimappa Gadad got a reply to his RTI query. The government spent Rs 32 lakh in 2010-11 and Rs 18 lakh in 2011-12 for renovating the circuit house.
wow, can’t imagine..has someone got access to the RTI response, I mean breakups of what/how much was spent?
Thats a lot….I am going to stop paying tax to GOI.
Look at today’s TOI.
Half of the money would have been siphoned off by the local MLA and MPs contractor friends…
