The Saturday weekends for those who love to booze and then drive home is not the same as before, the Police has intensified their drive against Drink and Drive.
On Saturday as many as 50 cases were booked from 8 PM to 11 PM in the city from various areas.
In July this drive was undertaken by the police but due to some reasons it was not implemented effectively in August, but on Saturday again 50 persons were booked for drink and drive in the city.
City traffic cops went on an overdrive to instill traffic rules across city limits. Each day they are undertaking different issues and trying to instill traffic rules in the city may it be pavement clearance, the non-wearing of helmets, fancy number plates etc.
The rising number of cases highlights the need for more aggressive awareness campaigns and stricter action by police.
Today, drinking has become a craze. It is common even at family gatherings. This makes it extremely difficult to curb drinking, which is no longer restricted to special occasions, like New Year’s Eve. Everyone (when drunk) feels that s/he is in full control of their senses. Greater, aggressive awareness is necessary to make citizens realize the inherent risks.
PLEASE BAN ON PRODUCTION ( MANUFACTURERS ) OF LIQUOR, CRACKERS,CIGARETTES, ALL TOBACCO ITEMS THROUGHOUT THE COUNTRY
WHY COMPLAIN ON CONSUMERS ? IT IS LIKE CATCHING THE RIDERS AT THE OTHER END ON ” NO ENTRY ZONES”
BANNING ON ABOVE ITEMS WILL NOT AFFECT ON GOVT. REVENUES. OUR GOVT. IS WISE ENOUGH TO COLLECT THE SAME REVENUE FROM SOME OR THE OTHER ITEMS.
You give a funny example of “like catching the riders at the other end of no entry zones” (I didnt want to copy paste your messages because its just rude to be all-caps..anyways..moving on). Its an no-entry road…means you are not supposed to enter it. Its not like its permitted to enter if nobody is watching you and unfair if you get caught at the other end. The essence of ethics is that one should be following rules not because somebody is watching. By your logic, you would blame the cops for solving murder cases…like boss why did you catch me ‘after I committed the murder..why didnt you be there to stop me when I was planning one 🙂
It’s a good drive but till we people understand the responsibility these drives have no meaning.
If you look at the age group of offenders you’ll be surprised how many people above 35 flaunt with rules, drink driving, driving on wrong side of road, lack of consideration for parking, driving without licence.
I used to object to many of these but am tired of it. Above all you don’t have the energy for fist fight as all communication with offenders leads in a fight.
Good initiative taken by belagavi cops . need to bring this checking daily and routine . no matter how big name are cought while drink n drive . punish n cancel driving license.
