The Smart city project now seems to be coming on the track and in the recent meeting held at Bengaluru, as many as works worth 84 crores were sanctioned by the Smart city council. President of the SPV Belagavi Smart city Ltd. Rakesh Singh, Mayor Sanjyot Bandekar, CEO Sashidhar Kurer were present at the meeting.
The redevelopment of Kalamandir as a multipurpose building worth 43 crores was approved by the members along with 5 crores for Lake development, 3 crores for Garden development, 3 crores for bus shelters, 30 crores for Central bus stand.
Works upto 5 cores were approved but projects with higher allocation will have to go through an approval process.
Also it was decided sufficient work force will be appointed for the Belaagvi smart city ltd so that work can be expedited.
Even better road and infrastructure can be carried out from smart city projects fund upto Belgaum airport.
