In a strategic move aimed at bolstering its presence in Telangana ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed seasoned leader Abhay Kumar Patil to spearhead its election campaign in the state. Patil, a four-time MLA representing Belagavi, brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously served as the party’s election in-charge for three Lok Sabha segments during the last Assembly elections. With his strong track record in Maharashtra politics, Patil is expected to play a pivotal role in steering the BJP’s campaign in Telangana.
Expected to assume his new responsibilities within the next two days, Patil will closely collaborate with party-appointed in-charges for each Lok Sabha segment in Telangana. He will directly report to BJP President JP Nadda and Home Minister Amit Shah, underscoring the significance of the party’s ambitions in the region.
Expressing confidence in the BJP’s prospects, Patil remarked, “Out of 17 constituencies in Telangana, we will win in more than 10 constituencies this time.”
“The leaders of Telangana and the BJP election committee will meet and plan to win the election,” Patil stated. “I have been entrusted with the responsibility of winning more than 10 seats in Telangana, and I am committed to handling it efficiently.”
Acknowledging his dual role as an in-charge in both Chikkodi and Telangana areas, Patil expressed his willingness to relinquish his responsibilities in Chikkodi to focus entirely on the upcoming campaign in Telangana.
As Patil assumes his new role, all eyes are on the BJP’s electoral strategy in Telangana and the potential impact of his leadership on the party’s fortunes in the state.
