Airport welcomed dignitaries from various Industries/Organization/ Body, including Professional Forum, Citizens Council, BDSSIA, BCCI, University of Horticulture Sciences, Registrar – Rani Channamma University, AEQUS, Professor – University of Agricultural Sciences, CREDAI, Belgaum Shetkari Sangthan, Orione Hydraulics Airlines (Star Air & Air India), JPF Metacast Pvt. Ltd. Vega Helmets, Sneham International, KLSIMER etc. who attended the meeting.
The primary focus of the meeting was to explore the feasibility of Air Cargo Business from Belagavi and create awareness amongst the community.
Airports Authority of India (AAI) had specially deputed an Officer, Shri Gokul G from the Cargo Directorate, CHQ – Delhi to explore the feasibility of domestic Air Cargo services from Belagavi Airport.
The outcome of the meeting was very positive, especially with respect to perishable and e-commerce sector. Dr. Ashok S. Alur informed the gathering about the outcomes of the meeting held with Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship on the proposed skill development programs on horticulture & cold storage hubs. It was also briefed that an Air Cargo policy may soon be announced by the Ministry of Civil Aviation in the Global Aviation Summit – 2019 for promoting Air Cargo Business. The Cargo-In-charge informed that the
Old Passenger Terminal Building of Belagavi Airport would be modified into a Domestic Air Cargo Terminal that can cater to the needs of supply chain industries.
A proposal for cold storage facility, strong room & dangerous good shed is also being considered in the proposed Air Cargo Terminal depending upon the demand.
Citizens Council Belgaum submitted the memorandum regarding Belagavi scenario in agricultural/industrial Air Cargo facilities at Belagavi Airport.
