All COVID restrictions to end on March 31, wearing of face mask to continue

The Union home ministry in view of the continuous dip in coronavirus cases has decided to end all Covid-19 containment measures from March 31 which were imposed 2 years ago after the Covid pandemic broke out and the country went into lockdown.

However, wearing of face mask and maintaining social distancing norms will continue as earlier.

  • Belagavi District as of 23/03/2022 has 17 active cases for COVID-19 in the district.
  • 1001 deaths have been reported in the past 2 years due to covid.
  • Over 100121 patients had tested positive in the past two years.
  • Total of 19,64,840 swab samples were collected to date.

Union home secretary Ajay Bhalla said that in view of the nature of the disease, people still need to remain watchful and whenever there is any surge in the number of cases observed, states and Union Territories may consider taking prompt and proactive action.

The Central government had on March 24, 2020, issued for the first time guidelines under the Disaster Management Act (DM Act) 2005 for the containment of Covid-19 in the country and these have been modified on various occasions.
