BELGAUM, 30th Sept.2013: A Peaceful Rally was organized today by Swashakti Empowerment Cell for Women, KLE University, Belgaum. People from various walks of life, including representatives from 30 Organizations including schools, colleges of the KLE Society, the KLE hospital, social organizations like NGOs, the Rotary, Lions and Women empowerment organizations, etc., joined hands with “Swashakti”, against the recent incident of rape on a 4 year lovely child from Hukkeri taluka of Belgaum District who was brutally raped, battered and left to die.
The Rally was flagged off by Mrs. Asha P. Kore, President, Swashakti Empowerment Cell, KLE University, at Lingaraj College, Belgaum and the protestors walked to the office of The Deputy Commissioner, Belgaum. On behalf of the participant organizations and citizens of Belgaum, Mrs. Asha P. Kore, submitted a Memorandum against “Rape and child rape” and called for a stern action with severe punishment against the culprits on all such crimes either major or minor. The Memorandum highlighted upon the role of Police, Judiciary, and the Government with suggestions, in ensuring safety and welfare of child and women against such acts. Thousands of citizens joined the rally and expressed their anguish over the recent incident in Belgaum District and all such acts of crimes against the child & women in the country.
