As many as 20 old buses used by the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will be deployed in the Belagavi division of the NWKRTC after re-branding.

The BMTC) has sent around 60 old non-AC buses to North-Western Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NWKRTC) and the BMTC has charged ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh for each bus as per media reports.

Now 20 of those old buses which have already been used for 10 years or so will be deployed in the Belagavi division for City and suburban routes.

NWKRTC had written to BMTC asking the corporation to provide “excessive buses”. Like other State-run transport corporations, due to the financial crisis induced by the pandemic, the NWKRTC could not expand its fleet size in the last two years.

  1. Economic prudence.
Buses being bought at throw away prices.
People responsible should be lauded for their efforts.
