After a gap of three months, the council meeting of the Belagavi city corporation was held on Saturday amidst ruckus that the opposition wasn’t taken into confidence while framing the subjects of the meeting.
A major resolution passed in the afternoon session with an opposition walkout was the ban on burning effigies, tyres and bursting fire crackers at Rani Chennamma Circle as it affected the paint of the statue.
Rani Chenamma circle is the holy ground where all protests take place and almost weekly some or the other effigy is burnt or tyres are burnt.
The council passed this resolution and hence it will have to be seen if the same is implemented now.
