Belagavi, Dakshina Kannada, Mysuru, Dharwad and Kalaburgi deputy commissioners have been asked to expedite the process to rename the airports. The government has also sought information about historical personalities of the regions after whom the airports can be renamed.
After UDAN airports such as Belagavi have seen exponential growth and more is expected with more airlines commencing.
This spurt if air traffic across the state has prompted the Govt to fast track this process of identifying names that can be given to these airports.
