The District Court in Belagavi has handed down a life sentence to Anil Chandrakanta Bandekar from K.H. Kangrali village for the brutal murder of his two daughters, driven by superstitious beliefs. The Sixth Additional District Court found Bandekar guilty and also levied a fine of ₹20,000.

In a tragic incident in 2021, Bandekar mercilessly slit the throats of his eight-year-old daughter Anjali and four-year-old daughter Ananya. Motivated by blind faith, he collected their blood and poured it over a Shiva Linga near his residence, believing this ritual would bring an end to his financial woes. Struggling with mounting debts and an unsellable house, Bandekar was convinced by recurring dreams that this gruesome act would attract buyers for his property and alleviate his troubles.
