Due to continuous heavy rains in Khanapur taluk of Belagavi district, DC Belagavi Mohammad Roshan has ordered a halt on the movement of heavy vehicles (multi-axle vehicles) on certain roads until further notice. This decision affects the old bridge near Kusamali village on the Jamboti-Piranwadi road (National Highway 54), which connects Jamboti to Belagavi city and Jamboti to Khanapur (State Highway 31).

The Khanapur-Jamboti-Khanapur connecting road (State Highway 31) passes through forest areas, and the ongoing heavy rains have loosened the shoulders of the road. The high soil moisture on the sides increases the risk of road collapse if heavy vehicles pass simultaneously, making the road unsafe for such traffic.

To ensure safety, a one-way traffic system has been implemented:

  • From 6 AM to 1 PM: Heavy vehicles can travel one way from Khanapur towards Jamboti.
  • From 1 PM to 8 PM: Heavy vehicles can travel one way from Jamboti towards Khanapur.

This measure is taken to prevent potential dangers and ensure the safety of all road users.
