On February 6th, the elected councilors of the Belagavi City Corporation were sworn in and are now eligible to receive a salary. As per the current package, councilors receive a monthly honorarium of Rs 6,000 and an additional Rs 300 for travel expenses.
Pay packet
Mayor – Rs 16,000
Deputy mayor – Rs 10,500
Both have cars so there is no Traveling allowance
Councilor – 6000 per month and 300 traveling allowance
Council sitting charge – Rs 100 per day
Even though the results were declared in September 2019, their term as councilors start from the date of the oath-taking only.
Most of the councilors got their first salaries this week.
The honoraria are different for each City corporation with a cap per the KMC act.
No wonder government servants don’t remain honest!!!!
