Prerana Gonbare from Belagavi is the only Indian on the list who will represent India at the Dance World Cup 2018 being held at Sitges, Barcelona, Spain from June 22 to June 30 in the category Children solo show dance.

Prerana has been learning dance at the M STYLE Dance ND Fitness Academy since 2015. She is a 9th Standard student from Vanita Vidyalaya English Medium school.

Dance World Cup has over 12,000 children around the world aged from 4 to 25 trying to qualify for our final which is held annually in a different location, previous locations for Dance World Cup. Dance World Cup is open to anyone who attends a dance school that is not state run. The standard is high and we encourage group dances so that as many children as possible can participate.

Actually 6 persons from Belagavi were selected for the DWC but all had to back off due to financial constraints. Now only Prerana, her mother and Choreographer are going from pillar to post to collect the money to make it to Spain.

Prerana is very passionate about dancing and hopes to make a big career in it in the future. Now she is on top of the world as she is the only one from India who is participating in the DWC.

The positive Prerana however had tears in her eyes, as she spoke to AAB, as she said; she has to take her Dance Choreographer and mother along; the total expenses fall in the tune of Rs.6 lakhs for all the three. Some how her parents have managed some funds but if some the people of Belagavi help them in getting some sponsorship it will be very easy for me to focus on my dance practice.
