Belgaum International Short Film festival successfully hosted

11 competitive & 9 invited movies from across India screened

Organized by Society of Artistic Vision and presented by Niyati Creations, the 3rd edition of Belgaum International Short Film Festival was successfully hosted at the Lokmanya RangaMandir (Ritz Theatre). 

The festival celebrated the visual storytelling experience by screening 20 short films in two different categories, viz; 9 in the Invited Section and 11 in the Competitive section.

The invited films like Kataran, Sound Proof, Academy Award-winning Abu Adnan featuring notable actors like Piyush Mishra, Soha Ali Khan highlighted the world-class cinema. The 11 films in the competitive section by young filmmakers from across India highlighted the nuances of visual storytelling that is influencing the budding filmmakers.

The festival was well attended by the film enthusiasts from Belgaum. Distinguished poet & writer Makarand Sawant graced the valedictory prize distribution session. He in his address encouraged the young filmmakers from Belgaum to inculcate the film watching habit that will surely enhance the content and technical aspect of their future films.

Writer, Cinematographer & Director Wasim Maner, Writer Ambar Hadap and Cinematographer Kiran Hampapura were the notable Juries who along with selection committee choose the winning films.

Best Film: Kaaval Deivam

1st Runner Up: Arimpara

2nd Runner Up: Room Shifting

Special Mention: Ppa

Best Director: Kaaval Deivam

Best Cinematography: Arimpara

Best Editing: Plan B

Best Sound: Kaaval Deivam

Best Screen Play: Prawns

“We are happy that Belagavi has supported our initiative for the third consecutive year. BISFF hosted the competitive section for the first time and we were happy to receive over 25 entries from national as well as international filmmakers. With this same support we plan a multifold growth in the future editions”, said Sanket Kulkarni & Sachin Bhatt, Festival Directors.

    Success of this International short film festival will open the corridor for more film events in the future for Belgaum.
