The Belagavi City and North Division units of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have submitted a formal representation to the District Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, seeking an investigation into alleged irregularities in the electoral roll of the Belagavi North Assembly constituency.

According to the representation, verification of the electoral roll revealed 263 voter entries across polling booths 212, 213, 214 and 215 linked to a single CTS property number, 2438/1 to 2438/127.

The party further stated that, under CTS number 2438, the entries were distributed across four polling booths, with 205 voters listed in booth 212, 20 in booth 213, 34 in booth 214 and four in booth 215. The BJP has raised concerns over voter registrations linked to the same property number across multiple polling booths and has sought verification of these entries.

The representation also refers to approximately 8,000 entries identified during the Special Summary Revision (SSR) in the Belagavi North constituency. These reportedly include cases involving relocation, duplicate entries or prints, deceased voters and registrations allegedly lacking proper documentation.

The BJP leaders have called for a detailed investigation into the identified entries and the removal of any unauthorised or ineligible names from the electoral roll in accordance with election rules.

The allegations are subject to verification by the election authorities. The identification of multiple voters linked to a single property number does not, by itself, establish that the registrations are invalid.
