Exploiting the absence of the occupants, a group of thieves seized the opportunity to ransack Chetan Kurane’s residence in Gondhali Galli in the heart of Belagavi. Under the cover of darkness on Friday, after midnight, the culprits forcefully broke into Kurane’s house by tampering with the lock.
Upon scouring the premises, the audacious thieves made off with a staggering haul of 24 tolas gold ornaments and a substantial sum of 1 lakh 30 thousand rupees in cash, amounting to approximately 14 lakh rupees. The brazen burglary has sent shockwaves through the community, igniting a sense of unease in the vicinity.
Chetan Kurane, who had been away with his family, was taken aback when he returned home on Saturday morning to discover the crime.
In response to the reported theft, Police Inspector Dilip Nimbalkar from the Khadebazar police station, accompanied by other senior officers, swiftly arrived at the scene to conduct a thorough investigation. A team of expert fingerprint analysts and a canine unit were also summoned to aid in the search for evidence.
Curiously, the canine unit’s search led them to Gawli Galli and Gondhalli Galli, raising suspicions about the possible whereabouts of the perpetrators. A case has been registered at the Khadebazar police station, and the authorities have launched an intensive manhunt to apprehend the culprits.
