Bushra Mateen from Raichur stole all the spotlight at the 21st annual convocation of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) by writing her name in the record books as she got 16 gold medals in BE Civil.
This is the highest ever gold haul in the history of the 24-year-old technological university.
Bushra Mateen, a student of SLN College of Engineering in Raichur, rewrote the record books with a whopping 16 gold medals in BE Civil.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, and Higher Education Minister C N Ashwath Narayan greeted the golden girl while she went on the dais to collect the medals.
Bushra aspires to become an IAS officer and drew inspiration from her father who is a junior engineer.
“I could do well in my examinations as I studied textbooks and not notes prepared only for the examinations,’’ she said.
Belagavi K.L.E. Dr. M. S. Sheshagiri Engineering College’s Vivek Bhadrakali from the Mechanical Department, Bellary Institute Of Technology and Management’s Chandana M. from the E & C Department have each won 7 gold medals.
