Belagavi has a Cricket stadium and also a Hockey stadium that would be built near the KSCA cricket stadium, and now MLA Abhay Patil has envisaged a National Level indoor stadium near Yellur village.

Out of 66 acres and 17 gunthas of land reserved for farmers in the Yellur area, 40 acres of land have been sanctioned by the government for youth empowerment and sports department for construction of the said stadium and sports complex.

The villagers protested against the allocation of the grazing land for the stadium.

The village has around 2,700 animals and 350 other pets. As a result, farmers and villagers will have to suffer if the grazing land is converted into a stadium.

Satish Patil GP President Yellur said that they don’t oppose the construction of the stadium, but by taking away the grazing land the farmers who have cattle will face hardships, for which the govt should not ignore this request.
