The Cantonment board school ground in Camp Belagavi is getting smarter and a private company called Beta Sports Club of Pune has been given the responsibility of developing the ground.
The Cantonment Board has three medium schools namely Marathi, English and Urdu with a total strength of 1500 students.
The ground will be inaugurated in the next fortnight and students from all the three schools in the cantonment will be able to use the smart ground.
The company has started the development of the ground at a cost of Rs 1.5 crore. Students will be able to use this ground every day from 8 am to 3.30 pm during school hours.
In the evening, the Pune-based company will provide training to students who want to pursue a career in sports for a fixed fee.
The cantonment board school ground has been given to the company on a 20-year contract. The company will provide facilities on the ground and in return for those facilities the company will be allowed to use the ground for free for vocational training. The stadium is being constructed under the supervision of Ravi Birje, Kautsubh Birje and Saurabh Birje, Head of Beta Sports Club.
During the tenure of the then CEO of the Cantonment Board, Barchaswa, the Cantonment Board has given a 20-year contract to a Pune-based company for the development of the school grounds. It was approved by the then chairman Brigadier Rohit Chaudhary at a board meeting.
