The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a raid on the office of the Cantonment Board on Saturday in response to repeated allegations made by a resident regarding illegal constructions, land encroachments, and illegal appointments to various posts within the Belagavi Cantonment Board. The CBI questioned the Cantonment Board Chief Executive Officer, K Anand, and other staff members.

This operation was a joint effort between CBI officials from Delhi and Bengaluru. Sudhir Tupekar, a government-nominated member of the board, had raised complaints of irregularities in various appointments.

The CBI has been questioning Cantonment Board officials for six consecutive days. On Tuesday (21st), they discussed matters with the officials in the cantonment and inspected relevant documents. The CBI is investigating complaints of a recruitment scam within the Cantonment Board.

Seats have been filled through questionable means. CBI officials have been interrogating the officials of the Belgaum Cantonment Board office since Thursday (16th) to delve into this matter. Even on Tuesday, officials were questioned in the board’s hall, and it was discovered that various documents had been tampered with in the Cantonment Board a year ago.

The CBI team consists of officers from Bangalore. They even conducted inquiries with the cantonment authorities on Sunday (19th), despite it being a holiday. As the investigation has been ongoing for six consecutive days, there have been discussions within the board. However, the Cantonment authorities have not provided any clarification regarding this issue.
