In an unprecedented incident of chain snatching in Cantonment Area of Belgaum, today early morning an unidentified man tried to snatch gold chain from a lady taking morning walk after following her for some time at the Junction of Hilli Road and Thimayya Road next to The Maratha Light Infantry Regimental Centre. The man was again seen in the area immediately after sometime suggesting the criminal activity going on with impunity. FIR has been lodged with Camp Police Station.
Off late, an increase in such kind of incidents has been observed in the cantonment area. Incidents of eve teasing and theft have also been reported frequently from the cantonment. Improvement in the law and order situation of the cantonment is felt by incorporating strict access control measures in order to stop entry of miscreants and mischief mongers.
