On March 4th and 5th, the grand unveiling ceremony of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue will take place at Rajahans gad, located on the outskirts of Belagavi city.
This project has been spearheaded by MLA Lakshmi Hebbalkar, who has undertaken various initiatives to make it a success.
The event will commence with a range of religious and traditional ceremonies on March 4th, along with a spectacular laser show and firework display. Additionally, a variety of cultural programs have been organized, including the Palki Utsav, kirtan, dol tasha dance, and maradani khel.
The installation of a large statue of Shivaji Maharaj in the Rajahansagad fort has long been a dream of MLA Lakshmi Hebbalkar, who hopes to develop the fort into a popular tourist destination.
MLA Belagavi Rural has been successful in getting sanctioned Rs.3.5 crore for the development of the Rajhuns Gad and 50 Lakhs for the 60 feet tall statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as well and the foundation stone was laid on 27 January 2020.
The majestic fort is situated nearly 2,500 ft (762 m) above sea level which dates back to history many centuries ago among different kingdoms and their rulers.
During the tenure of MLA Sanjay Patil tar road and other developmental works have been carried out at the fort.
The government has proposed ropeway projects at 15 different tourist and pilgrim sites across the state, including Rajhuns Gad in Belagavi. MLA Abhay Patil had previously proposed a cable car project from Aravalli Dam to Rajhans Gad Yallur, and in 2019, officials visited the site to inspect it.
