In the general body meeting of the city corporation Belagavi, the councillors said in one tone that it is not possible for the cash strapped corporation to bear the 60 lakhs expenses per month of Indira Canteens.
The tax collections are meager and in such a situation spending on Indira canteens can hamper the regular developmental works. All said the idea of Indira canteens is good but the expenses should be met by the state govt it self and the burden should not be passed on to the local bodies.
Already the land for the same has been provided by the Corporation.
