Belgaum Sugars, owned by Public Works Minister Satish Jarkiholi, will conduct cloud seeding in Belagavi district on Friday. Mr. Jarkiholi stated that this initiative is part of the company’s social welfare activity and does not require any government support. Out of the 14 taluks in the district, 12 are currently on the State government’s drought-hit taluk list. Mr. Jarkiholi mentioned that similar experiments in districts like Haveri have successfully brought rain.

The flight carrying the necessary chemicals will perform cloud seeding twice in the day, first at 1 p.m. and then at 4 p.m., covering the entire district. Operated by Kyathi Climate Modification Consultants based in Hyderabad, flight, VT-KCM, will depart from Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad in the morning and arrive at Belagavi Airport in Sambra at 11.30 a.m. Captain Virendra Singh and Captain Adarsha Pandey will pilot the flight.

The operation is expected to be completed by evening, after which the flight will return to Hyderabad. Kyathi Climate Modification Consultants has obtained the necessary permission from the Director-General of Civil Aviation and has requested the local airport authorities to prioritize the flight. Mr. Jarkiholi stated that they would make this request to ensure the smooth execution of the operation.
