A student was beaten up by his own classmates for raising a Karnataka flag during an inter-school and college festival event at Gogte College Belagavi. However, the police have denied and said it was caused after the youths while dancing accidentally stepped on the feet of the other.
In the college function held yesterday at Tilakawadi police station limits, the students were called to the police station and told not to bring language disputes in schools and colleges, and no student was attacked.
The students were questioned and this incident happened accidentally when stepped on each other’s feet while dancing. Both sides were of the same language said DCP Law and Order.
A protest was held at RPD college and also in front of the Gogte college this noon by KRV and others demanding that the police must support the cause of Kannada.
Traffic via RPD was diverted due to the protests.
