Hundreds of people took part in a colourful procession taken out as part of Mahaveer Jayanti celebrations in Belgaum on Sunday.A large number of Jains took part in the celebrations organised by the Janmakalyanak Mahotsav Madhyavarthi Utsav Sangh, Belgaum. The devotees took out a ‘Shobha Yatra’. Several prominent persons, including some elected representatives and contesting Candiadtes participated in the celebrations.
Children who came dressed as historic personalities and sages were the centre of attraction.Women offered puja to Bhagavan Mahaveer at some locations, while in a few localities, people lined up on either side of the road to watch the procession.
A procession was taken out, which culminated at Mahaveer Bhavan. ‘Mahaprasad’ was served to the devotees.
