In a recent development, Smt. Dakshayani Choushetti, Joint Commissioner of Commercial Tax (Appeal) in the Belagavi division, was apprehended by the Lokayukta police. This action was taken following a complaint filed by Vikas Pramod Kokane, the manager of Vikas Composite Company located in Auto Nagar, Belagavi.
The complaint alleged that Smt. Choushetti had demanded a bribe of Rs. 25,000 in order to issue a rectification order for a GST appeal.
The Lokayukta police, led by Niranjan M Patil, promptly launched an investigation and caught Smt. Choushetti red-handed while accepting the tainted money.
The Lokayukta police will continue to investigate this matter thoroughly.
