1.75 lakh doses of COVISHIELD Vaccine, the first consignment arrived in Belagavi from Serum Institute of India Pune on Wednesday morning.
The vaccination drive begins from January 16 and vaccination will happen at 12 centres in Belagavi district.
Out of the 12, 2 centers are in Belagavi Taluka namely BIMS and Vantamuri PHC.
In Phase one Doctors in govt service and Private service along with health care staff would be given jabs.
Already the dry runs have been conducted and the administration is geared up for the same.
In each of these Centres vaccination would be injected to 100 beneficiaries on Saturday after the launch of the vaccination drive by the prime Minister narendra Modi at New Delhi.
The sources said the officials of the health department have been instructed to select a Group ‘D’ employee in each Centre for taking up the first vaccination dose.
After a break of one day on Sunday, the vaccination drive would be continued from Monday in more centres in all the district at the rate of one vaccination centre for each of 100 beneficiaries.
1.45 doses will be administered in the first phase in the district.
