Deputy Commissioner Belagavi Nitesh Patil who is also the Administrator of the Belagavi city corporation in a review meeting held at the City corporation has taken a stand that it is up to the trader to decide where it wants to obtain a permit from either the city corporation or the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) department.
DC Patil has directed city corporation officials not to harass traders by making the license mandatory.
The Belagavi Chamber of commerce and Industries had taken up this issue of trade licenses earlier this year and had sought relief for small traders.
Ministry of MSME through an official memo issued on July 2, 2021, allowed traders to register at the Udyam portal. Hence it is now clear that either one can have an MSME registration or get a trade license from the City Corporation.
Also as told to the traders in the meeting somewhere in March, the online renewal is not happening.
A trader told AAB, that he had applied for renewal for this year on April 7, 2022, but to date, nothing has happened and the status shows Your Application is in the Endorsement stage with the operator (operator).
So the online renewal also is a sort of farce he added.
