ZONE 1: TIMELINE AND LISTS OF FIRSTS

This zone must welcome patrons with a brief timeline of aviation showcasing the evolution of flight, watershed events and inventions that propelled the aviation industry with canvas prints as the main medium.

ZONE 2: AVIATION ORIGINS

This zone must focus on understanding the biology of birds and the way it helped development of aircrafts like Ornithopters, Gliders, etc., with an Interactive exhibit with gesture sensors and a LED panel with a customized program as the main highlight.

ZONE 3: ANCIENT AVIATION

This zone must tell the story of the myths, legends on the science of flying across civilizations like China, India, Egypt and Greece (with rare drawing of Leonardo Da Vinci, Vimānika Shastra, etc.) with the help of vinyl graphics and canvas prints.

ZONE 4: INTERACTIVE ZONES

This area must be designed to give a simulated experience of flying like a bird to flying an airplane over virtual terrain by interactive technology and simulators. This zone must feature a central aisle with suspended models showing the evolution of aircrafts. The models must give an overview of the evolution of Aircraft throughout history with the replicas of Bats, White Stork, Leonardo Da Vinci’s Ornithopter, LZ – 127 GrafZeppelin, Lilienthal Glider, Voisin 1907 Biplane, Wright Flyer 2, Cornu’s Helicopter, German Etrich Taube Monoplane, Messerschmitt Me 262, de Havilland Comet (D. H. Comet) and Concorde G-BOAB (Alpha Bravo).

ZONE 5: LIGHTER THAN AIR AIRCRAFTS

This zone must highlight the invention of hot air balloons which later became a raging sport in Europe, steerable airships, and attempts in designing powered flight which were often risky endeavors leading to crashes and deaths, with the help of vinyl graphics and suspended models.

ZONE 6: HEAVIER THAN AIR AIRCRAFTS

This zone must showcase the invention of manned flights, fully controlled and safe landing biplanes. 19th century saw enormous developments due to the advent of industrial revolution. Heavier than air aircrafts and the use of engine was devised. This area must feature vinyl prints along with objects, tools, replicas of actual objects used, uniforms, etc. encased in a wooden cabinet.

ZONE 7: WAR TECHNOLOGY

This area must focus on the great advancement of aircraft technology with in-built weapons, development of radar systems and air combat tactics, with the help of vinyl prints along with objects, tools, replicas of actual objects used, uniforms, etc. encased in a metal cabinet.

ZONE 8: INDIAN WAR TECHNOLOGY

This area must highlight the establishment of the Indian Air Force as an auxiliary of British Royal Air Force in 1932 and its instrumental role in during World War 2. This story must be told on vinyl graphics and panels.

ZONE 9: MINIATURE AIRPORT

This must be the highlight of the Aviation Gallery and must be a working model of an airport downsized to give an understanding of its functioning and movement. This zone must feature a diorama with highly detailed miniature structures, landscaping & trompe-l’oeil, programmed ambient lighting and signaling system.

ZONE 10: COMMERCIAL AIRCRAFT

This area must focus on a brief introduction to Boeing and other commercial aircrafts, through vinyl graphics and panels.

ZONE 11: 21ST CENTURY

This area must highlight the advancements within the aircrafts due to digitization, the nnovation brought with supersonic jets, unmanned aircrafts, solar powered jets and drones, and how the aircraft industry inadvertently contributes to air congestion and pollution, etc., with the help of objects, tools, replicas of actual objects used, etc. encased in a metal cabinet.

A brief about the idea behind the Miniature Airport

We have all noticed the excitement of a kid when he or she spots a plane up in the sky or the sheer delight with which they look out of the big airport glass windows spotting takeoffs and landings. Their inquisitive minds are super charged from the moment they step into an airport. Be it the ATC tower, or the curious looking vehicles, equipment and machinery, the moving aerobridges attaching itself to the airplane door, the catering container being lifted, the conveyor belts loading/unloading cargo, the peculiar gestures of the ground staff signaling and

guiding the planes at the apron area and many more such activities and objects in and around the airport inspires curiosity, admiration, awe, fantasy, and aspiration. It is not just appealing to the children but the child in every one of us probably even that of a jetsetter frequent flyer. That is the magic of an airport. To recreate an airport in 1:100 scale is no doubt challenging in many ways, but the biggest challenge is to be able to recreate this magic and evoking the same curiosity, excitement, inquisitiveness, awe, and admiration among the visitors.
