The Belagavi City Corporation has recently announced an increase in the development fund for ward councilors from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 40 lakh. This decision was made after members claimed that the previous amount was insufficient to carry out necessary infrastructure development works in their respective wards.

With this increase, each of the 58 corporators now has access to Rs 40 lakh for development and maintenance in their ward. However, before any funds are allocated, elected corporators must submit a detailed plan to the Corporation for review. Once approved, a tender will be floated in accordance with set rules.

It’s important to note that these funds are sourced solely from the local budget of the Belagavi City Corporation. The ward budget is allocated annually to address local issues and ensure that necessary improvements are made.
