Union Minister V. Somanna announced on Thursday that Karnataka’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train will begin service between Bengaluru and Belagavi starting next month.

Speaking at a press conference at a private hotel in Belagavi, Somanna highlighted the state’s commitment to improving rail connectivity. He noted that the new Belagavi-Dharwad railway line, which will pass through Kittur, is a key infrastructure project inspired by the vision of the late Suresh Angadi, former Minister of State for Railways. “Efforts are underway to bring this project to fruition at the earliest,” he stated.

Responding to questions from reporters about expanding Vande Bharat services, Somanna mentioned that the Pune-Belagavi Vande Bharat Express is already operational, providing faster travel options in the region. With the upcoming launch of the sleeper variant, Karnataka’s first, travelers can expect enhanced comfort on the long-distance route between Bengaluru and Belagavi.

  2. Why is it always hubli, belgaum and dharwad. The people of bellary district and vijayanagar dist also are in need of vande bharath trains, we have hampi the world heritage site and the trains from bangalore is very minimal hardly we have 3 to 4 trains and that too express is only 2. Hubli is a divisional junction but only this will qualify to get majority of the trains??? I think railway department has to consider hospet and bellary also with vande bharath trains from Bangalore which is very much necessary.

  3. Somanna Sir,
Please extend Vandebharath Sleeper Bangalore train to Belgaum upto Pune which has high demand. If possible to Mumbai also. At present, the trains to Pune and Mumbai takes 18 hours to pune n 24 hours to mumbai.
Why This indicrimination to people of Bangalore and Railways are facoyring Vandebharth trains only in North? Bangalore is Silicon City a IT hub and it should equally be given importance on This route.

    Thank you
